We are all pretty much aware of the general falling bee numbers in our landscapes – from the countryside to the city. What is great is that you can now buy a huge amount of nifty little contraptions which encourage the solitary type bees to take up residence in your own garden. They are usually stuffed with bamboo to create the holes which the bees favour, but we have found these which are simply beautiful and as the name suggests – the Beesnees.
Available in a pack of three for £21.95, these little Beesnees bee houses are made from machined oak and offcuts of old rusted steel which cleverly combine to create the aesthetic of a child’s drawing of a house. Nice.

We think they would look great added in a single line against a wall of contrasting colour, near some lovely bright, nectar rich flowers….
